Obituary
Sue was always her preferred name and that’s how everyone knew her. She loved cooking, canning, socializing, and bringing her family together whenever possible. She loved to live life to the fullest and encouraged everyone around her to do the same. Sue radiated love and light to all of those around her and welcomed all through her door with kind tenderness. She encouraged all to reach for their dreams and always stood steadfast behind their pursuits. Throughout her life, she conquered many career rolls of high school graduate, business owner, seamstress, transport driver and waitress. Her most profound and successful roll was being a mother. The world lost a beautiful soul, and she will be greatly missed beyond measure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mack Georgie Payne and Gatha Marie Payne (Meadows).
Sue is survived by her husband, Donald Byrd; sons, Eric Lawson of Walton (daughter-in-law, Andrea Lawson), Johnnie Lawson of Barboursville (son-in-law, Bruce Issacs), Ronnie Lawson-Vest of Charleston (son-in-law, Charles Vest); grandchild, Casey Lawson of Walton; brothers, Ted Payne of Clio and Fred Payne of Clendinin, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place and a small private family gathering will take place at the Payne family cemetery, where she requested to be placed near her father’s grave.
Condolences may be sent to Sue’s family at www.barlowbonsall.com.
Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
