Obituary

Sarah murphy lyons of charleston, age 65, passed away peacefully at home saturday, may 28th, 2016. She was the loving wife of dan lyons, mother of meredith johnston(eric), kate westrin(charles), and jeff foster, and proud grandmother of ella westrin.
Sarah was born to the late lane and mildred murphy of princeton, wv. She graduated from princeton high school and west virginia university where she was crowned miss mountaineer.  sarah received her master’s degree in english education and library science.
Upon graduation from college, sarah moved to charleston where she taught english for many years at various schools in kanawha county.  sarah was passionate about spreading her love of reading and writing to all of her students.  then sarah took her love of integrating technology to the state board of education. She worked as director of educational technology, developing and implementing technology based education in schools throughout the state. 
sarah never met a stranger; she made a lasting impression on everyone she met.  she loved her walks with her best friend june, reading, and spending time with friends and family. Sarah and dan loved to travel and working at home in their garden.   
sarah is also survived by her sisters suzanne lowry(rick) and beth vinyard(rodney) and many other loving family members
memorial service will be 11 a.M. Wednesday, june 1, 2016 at first presbyterian church sanctuary, charleston.  the family will receive friends for a visitation time from 6 to 8 p.M. Tuesday, may 31, 2016 at barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston.
 in lieu of flowers the family asks that you please make donations to: read aloud west virginia or camc cancer center.

    Dan And Kids, Our Hearts Break For You All! Your Wife And Mother Was Special As We All Know! She Is Out Of Pain ! She Put Up A Hard Fight! It Will Never Be The Same Without Her , As I Can Honestly Say! Does It Get Better ,Never But The Waves Of Grief Do! They Come Fast At First, You Can’T Breath, But They Do Always Come. They Just Become Less Intense With Time! I Am So Lucky To Have Know Her, You Guy Are So Lucky To Have Her As A Mom And Wife!

    Sarah Is A Wonderful Lady. I Shared Elementary, Junior High And High School With Her. We Were A Group Of Girls Growing Up In The 60’S That Were Bonded With True Friendship. I Will Never Forget Her And The Impact She Has Left In My Life. This Has To Be A Tremendous Loss To Her Family. My Love Thoughts And Prayers Are With You All. Kakie
