Obituary

Sharon Louise (Dolumba) Orr, 80, of Charleston, WV, passed away December 28, 2025, at Hubbard Hospice House, surrounded by loving family.

She was born September 17, 1945, in Washington, DC, to the late Ethel (Coffenberg) Dolumba, before the family moved to Huntington Station, NY. She was a 1963 graduate of Walt Whitman High School. Sharon was also a licensed LPN and Massage Therapist.

As a young woman, Sharon moved closer to New York City, beginning her longtime airline career with Eastern Airlines and sparking a love of travel. Sharon was transferred to Houston, TX, moving often, including stays in San Francisco, CA; Ponce, Puerto Rico; Texas, Michigan, and West Virginia.

Sharon joined Piedmont Airlines in Charleston before being transferred to Virginia Beach, VA, as part of the merger with US Airways. She retired from the airlines in 2004, remaining in Virginia Beach where she was a licensed Massage Therapist with her own business. Ultimately, she returned to Charleston to be closer to family, especially her granddaughter, Avery.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters Valerie Burdock and Elaine Alloy.

Sharon is survived by her son, Lee; daughter-in-law, Asley; granddaughter, Avery; and former husband, Lawrence of Charleston; niece, Pam Burdock and her sons Matthew and Mark Casado of Conklin, NY; along with close friends in the community.

Sharon was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Charleston. She enjoyed biking, exercise, gardening, the ocean, and volunteering. She had many adopted and well-loved pets over the years.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to St. John’s Episcopal Church, Charleston, WV, or the Salvation Army.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1105 Quarrier Street, Charleston, WV, with The Reverend Eric L. Miller officiating. She will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery, Charleston, during a private burial.

There will be no visitation.

  1. I loved sharing so much. She was such a beautiful person. I’m just now finding out that she’s gone to heaven, and there’s no doubt on my mind about that. She had such a kind soul and never raised her voice. I worked with her for many years at Piedmont Airlines in Usair I also was for guinea pig when she was getting her massage license lucky me! I considered her a dear and great friend.
    She often spoke of her family and her special granddaughter that she adored Avery.
    I’m so happy to have an opportunity to know her and be friends with her.

    Called me over the years I met her in Charleston WV when we worked for Piedmont and in Norfolk Va worked Ticket counter ,gates and lost and found
    She really cared for her airline family she was very proud of her son and his family may God give each and everyone who knew her Peace

  4. We have lost a special friend and buddy. Sharon was a giving soul, loved everyone and always willing to help.. There was a time the two of us were the only Yankees in Elkview, we shared lots of laughs and adventures.
    She adored her son and his family and was very proud of them and always wanted to tell me the latest. I smile when I think of Sharon and she will always be my sweet friend. Love you to the moon.
