Obituary

Stephen Dale (Rocky) Crouse, 75, of Charleston, passed away on March 26, 2024,following a short illness. Rocky was born in Galloway, West Virginia, to the late Orlan Crouse, Jr. and Dora Jeanne (Hotsinpiller) Crouse.

Rocky received his undergraduate degree from West Virginia University and retired from the West Virginia State Tax Department. He was for years an avid fisherman, an active participant with Rock Steady Boxing for Parkinson’s, and a friend to all who met him.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandparents; wife, Theresa (Tari) McClintock Crouse; brother, Michael Lynn Crouse; sister-in-law, Evelyn Crouse; nephew, Justin Crouse; and brothers-in-law, Patrick McClintock and Charles Arnold.

Rocky is survived by his son, Douglas Judson Crouse; daughter, Sarah Elizabeth Crouse (Nick Burdette); sisters-in-law, Mary Alice Arnold and Elizabeth Diane McClintock (Terry Johnson); nieces, Molly McClintock Arnold and Rebecca Gibson Arnold; and many, many friends.

There will be a gathering of family and friends at a later date. The body will be cremated.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations to the WVU Rockefeller Neuroscience Institute, Rock Steady Boxing via Advanced Physical Therapy, or the Charleston Parkinson’s Support Group.

Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home has been entrusted to handle the arrangements.
