Obituary

Susan Alice Prater, 74, of South Charleston, WV, went to heaven on Sunday, March 23, 2025, after a long illness.

Born on October 10, 1950, Susan was the daughter of Henry and Maxine (Barker) Walker and was raised in Mud Suck on Spring Hill Mountain, WV.

She retired as a Resident Assistant from Job Corps with 17 years of dedication and hard work. Susan worked hard her entire life to provide for her family. A born-again Christina, she was a member of Keith Full Gospel Church, Keith, Boone County, WV.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, George S. Prater; daughter, Sheri Simpson, and brother, David Walker.

Susan is survived by her son, George Steven Prater Jr. of Cleveland, OH; grandsons, Colton Simpson and George Prater III; granddaughter, Joyce Prater; sister, Betty Lou Sloane of Charleston; brother, Michael Walker of Elkview, WV, and niece, Melissa Hollinstead of Cross Lanes, WV.

She was loved by all.

A private family service will be held at a later date.
