Obituary

Sushrut “Sush” Pakvasa passed away peacefully on May 6, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. following a stroke.

Born in India in 1943, Sushrut moved to the United States to pursue higher education, eventually finding a home in West Virginia. He was a proud graduate of West Virginia University, where he developed a lifelong passion for the Mountaineers. Whether it was game day or any day in between, he remained a “die-hard” fan through and through.

Sushrut dedicated 35 years of his professional life to the State Highway Department’s IT division. He was known by his colleagues for his technical expertise, work ethic, and steady presence. He will be remembered for his gentle spirit and dedication to both his family and community.

Sushrut is survived by his brother, sisters-in-laws, nephews and nieces.

A service will be held at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, May 8, 2026, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV, with Nikhil Pakvasa, the brother of Sushrut, officiating. Cremation will follow the service.

  1. I loved working with Sush at MIS. He was a great friend and great coworker. Such fun times with that group of people. He will be missed by everyone who knew him.

    My best friend and like a brother. Many conversations over so many years are treasured. My life is fuller because of him. Sush is an amazing friend and it’s a blessing to know and share many thoughts with him

  3. I worked with Sush many of those years he worked at DOH also in the Planning Division.
    A really nice guy, very knowlegable ….and quite opinionated! 😉
    Even after his retirement he was present with some of the guys on many Friday dinners and his company was always enjoyed.
    Rest in Peace My Friend!!!
