Obituary

Suzanne Hart Davis, “Suzi,” a daughter, a sister, but the title she was most proud of was Aunt Dee, and a cherished member of the Charleston, WV, community, passed away peacefully on September 24, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of warmth, kindness, and service. Born on March 11, 1948, in Huntington, WV, Suzi was the beloved daughter of the late William O. and Jacqueline LeSage Davis. She was also pre deceased by her brothers, Bill Davis and Gregory Alan Davis, and her furry and loyal friends, Morgan, Shadow and Copper, with whom she is now reunited in eternal peace.

Suzi’s early years were spent in Charleston, where she attended Kanawha City Elementary, Horace Mann Junior High, and Charleston High. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Concord College and Center College, where she cultivated a passion for learning that she carried throughout her life.

A dedicated professional, Suzi retired from a fulfilling career with the West Virginia Division of Corrections. Her commitment to service extended beyond her professional life as she volunteered with the Charleston Police Department, proudly graduating from the Citizens Police Academy. She gave over 28 years of service taking care of officers and bringing the officers and community together. She was recognized as a recipient of the Fred Marshall award on two occasions from the Charleston Citizens Police Academy.

Suzi’s heart was as vast as her love for her family and community. She adored her siblings, Carol Rouse Cline and Laura Davis Ellis, and her brother-in-law, Robert Orndorff. Her niece, Whitney Tharp, and nephew, Drew Ellis, her great nephews, Hayden and Ryder Tharp, and Garrison Ellison, and great niece, Jacqueline Ellis, were the light of her life, and she cherished every moment spent with them, including her sister-in-law, Mary Davis. Suzi had an innate ability to connect with people, and wherever she went, she never met a stranger.

Her interests were as diverse as they were dear to her heart. Suzi found joy in reading and cooking, often sharing her culinary creations with loved ones. Her compassionate spirit extended to animals, and, in lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Kanawha Charleston Humane Society, a cause close to Suzi’s heart, info@adoptcharleston.com, and the Citizens Police Academy, P.O. Box 11016, Charleston, WV 25339. The family would like to thank the Hubbard Hospice House for caring for her in her time of need.

A service to celebrate Suzi’s life will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, located at 900 Washington Street East. She will be buried at Mount View Cemetery following the service.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the church.
