Obituary
Tonya Ann Chaney, 56, of Charleston, WV, gained her wings on October 22, 2024. Though she left us suddenly after a 2-plus year struggle with a prolonged illness, she is now free from the pains of this world, resting peacefully in heaven. She is at home now with her Mother, Doris Chaney, and her Father, Tom Chaney, both of whom she loved and missed dearly.
Tonya is survived by her sons, Dustin Allen Chaney (Granville) and James Michael Romero (Lauren), and her grandson, Aiden Michael Romero, the light of her life. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Ward; her nieces, Amber Melton and Katlyn Ward, and a host of great nieces and nephews, along with a multitude of chosen family and a countless number of friends from all over the country.
Tonya is the definition of life lived to its fullest extent. Though she had struggles in life, she never let those struggles define her. Through faith, her struggles gave her the strength, courage, and will to overcome, succeed, and grow to her highest potential. She was strong in faith, a woman of conviction, who would: care for, shelter, feed, and defend all those she loved, or who were in need.

I miss you so much. Everyday I think about how you were there for me at times when I felt so alone, like I had no one in this world I could talk to. You have given me so much through your love, advice, and even through our honest struggles. Your were what I needed when I needed it: a mother, a friend, a mother-in-law, a debate partner, and even a bully when I needed my hard head knocked around.
You are the reason I’m married to your son for not only did you give birth to him, but you also did so much for our relationship that kept us together when most people would have given up, you were there for us both when it mattered the most. For that I am eternally grateful. You were a living guardian angel then & are a heavenly guardian angel now.
I love you and miss you so much!!!
