Obituary
Traci “Alex” Lanham, 29, of Sissonville Drive in Charleston, WV, earned his wings on March 15, 2025, after a long illness.
He was born on June 10, 1995, in Charleston, to Denvil Lanham Jr. of Pond Gap, WV, and Trisha Spangler of Charleston. He was a graduate of Riverside High School and a former employee of Asplundh Tree Expert Company.
Alex loved anything and everything to do with the outdoors, including bow and rifle hunting, camping, going mudding, or just sitting around enjoying the company of good friends and family. Alex also enjoyed playing the guitar, having learned to play at Pond Gap Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his Papa, Denvil Lanham Sr., and cousin, Andrew Elmore.
In addition to his parents, Alex is survived by his step father, Curtis Sydenstricker, husband of Trisha, of Charleston; his wife, Margo Michelle Lanham; his children, Arianna Gail Sue Lanham, Aleyna Lanham, and Preston Lanham, all of Charleston; his siblings, John Larch of Charleston, Marissa Larch and husband Kenny Hampton of Marmet, Emily Lanham and husband Seth of Poca, Isabelle Lanham of Pond Gap; longtime companion, Nina June of Charleston; grandmother, Lelia Sue Spangler of Charleston; Mawmaw, Betty Sydenstricker of Charleston; his father’s wife, Bertha Lanham; best friend and cousin, Veronica Lipscomb and husband Clay of Smithers, WV; Aunt Jenny Elmore of Charleston; Uncle Bo Spangler of Charleston; cousins, Summer Elmore and husband Raymond Bateman of Campbells Creek, WV, Kenny Spangler of Charleston, and Zachary Spangler of Charleston, along with many friends.
Alex’s step father, Curtis, was more than a step father to him: He was a bonus father. They would spend hours together hunting, talking of hunting or searching the stores for hunting related items. Alex was proud to consider Curtis a grandfather to his children. Alex’s mother, Trisha, and Curtis were married on Alex’s birthday, with Alex giving away his mother in marriage to Curtis.
A celebration of life service will be held this summer.
