Warren Lee Richardson

Passed: October 23, 2023
Charleston, WV

Warren Lee Richardson, 74, of Charleston, W.Va., passed away peacefully on October 23, 2023, surrounded by his closest family.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Max W. and Ruth Richardson, and his brother, Robbie Richardson.

Warren is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Rosella Scolish Richardson, as well as their sons, Jeremy (partner Andy Woo) and Cris (wife Rosette), and granddaughter Emma Rose. He is also survived by his sisters, Jane Nalle (husband Chuck), Suzanne Richardson, and Sally Moore, and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Warren was a 1967 graduate of Charleston High School, and he and Rosella were high school sweethearts. He graduated from Fairmont State College in 1973 with a Bachelor of Science degree in mechanical engineering, and he was an active brother in the TKE fraternity. Warren’s career in the coal mines spanned 25 years, much of that as a longwall maintenance foreman. In that role, he was responsible for keeping the coal moving, and it was a job that suited him well because he was known for his knack for being able to fix anything. A man of few words, Warren was thoughtful and wise, and he was a loving husband and father.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Appalachian Citizens Law Center: https://aclc.org/donate/ .

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 28, 2023, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, W.Va.
