Webb is survived by his wife, Barbara, and two sons, Webster Joseph III and his wife Camille of Charleston, and Walter Seth and his wife Denise, of Portland, OR; six grandchildren, Michelle Proops (Kenny) of Charleston, Rebecca Miller (Dan) of Haddonfield, NJ, Joseph Arceneaux of Cleveland, OH, Kellie Arceneaux of Los Angelos, CA, Holly Dorrance (Bryce) of Alexandria, VA, and Sydney Arceneaux in Portland, OR, and four great-grandchildren, Liam and Benett Proops of Charleston, and Avery and Tommy Miller of Haddonfield. He was preceded in death by his two sisters, Jeanne Marie Sledge (Eugene) of Montevallo, AL, and Yvonne Elizabeth (Bonnie) Arceneaux of Pensacola, FL.

Webb lived his early years in Louisiana and Mobile, AL, where he graduated from McGill Institute High School. He received a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Notre Dame in 1954, a master’s degree from MIT, and he pursued further graduate studies at Yale University before joining Union Carbide in Charleston in 1956. While with Union Carbide, he worked in process engineering for the design and construction of chemical plants. In 1977, he and Barbara left Charleston to work with Union Carbide in Jacksonville, FL and Raleigh, NC. Late in his career, his division was acquired by Rhone Poulenc and he moved to West Windsor, NJ where he completed his career in 1993.

In retirement, he and Barbara first moved to Seven Lakes, NC. He lived at the Seven Lakes Country Club where he pursued his life-long passion to play golf. He was also able to attend several U.S. Opens in Pinehurst. He was active in the Lions Club, the Computer Club, and the Seven Lakes Landowners Board. In 2015, he and Barbara moved back to Charleston to live at Edgewood Summit and be close to family. He was very active and well-liked by the residents and staff at Edgewood Summit. He served as President of the Residents Association and he spent his time at Edgewood Summit playing bridge, attending movies and other activities. He was an active member of Sacred Heart Co-Cathedral.

Webb lived in independent living and he was devoted to his wife, Barbara, and his family. He had lunch every day with Barbara while she was in the Memory Unit. Webb will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

The family would like to express their special thanks and appreciation for their excellent care to all the staff, nurses and doctors at CAMC Memorial Division and the skilled nursing unit at the Arthur B. Hodges Center. We also would like to thank all of the staff at Edgewood Summit who helped Webb over the years.

A Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on February 17, 2025, at the Multi-Purpose Room at Edgewood Summit, with a reception in his honor at the Library area to immediately follow.

In keeping with his wishes, his body will be cremated and a private entombment will be held at Mount Olivet Mausoleum in Charleston at a later date.
