Obituary

William harold straughan, of charles town wv, age 85, died on april 1, 2015, in winchester, virginia after a short illness.

William was born on september 12, 1929 in smithers, wv, son of the late w. Henderson and martha ann (gray) straughan. He was a graduate of oak ridge, tn high school in 1946, became a united states marine, graduated from the university of buffalo and case western reserve, and worked for union carbide for 37 years until his retirement. He left a lasting imprint of his gracious and generous spirit on all that knew him. He was a member of the kanawha united presbyterian church.

William is survived by his wife of 59 years, shirley marie (book) straughan, originally from lewiston, ny, now residing in charles town, wv; elizabeth cochran, of jasper, ga; paul and wife nancy, of charles town,wv; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.M. Tuesday, april 7, 2015 at sunset memorial park, south charleston, wv. Procession will leave the funeral home at 10:30 a.M. For the cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.M. Monday, april 6, 2015 at barlow bonsall funeral home, charleston, wv.
