Obituary

William Joseph “Joe” Melton, 61, of Charleston, WV, passed away January 31, 2024, surrounded by family and prayer.

Joe served the Kanawha County Commission for 27 years and was the Custodial Supervisor in recent years. He was also a graduate of Stonewall Jackson High School, class of 1981.

He was born November 29, 1962, to the late William “Bill” and Hildreth Melton. Also preceding him in death are his brothers, David L. Conley Sr., William W. Melton II, Michael A. Melton, and Raymond E. Melton.

Joe is survived by two children: daughter Cassellen J. “Cassie” Springer and son William J. “Joey” Melton; his sister, Toni G. Melton; his grandchildren, Aiden T. Springer, Cameron J. Melton, William B. “Blake” Melton, Riley A. Springer, Mila G. Melton, Ava D. Melton, Barrett K. Springer, and Gianni V. Melton; sister-in-law, Penny A. Melton, and several Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews, as well as a host of friends.

Joe’s wishes were to be cremated.

Home Going service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, February 8, 2024, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street East, Charleston, WV, with the Rev. Tom Springer officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior at the funeral home.
