Obituary

Wilma Hannah Naseef, wife of Richard, mother of Leslie Johnson (Billy Evans), grandmother of William and Charlie Johnson, passed from this earth on April 1, 2025.

Wilma and her siblings, Bug, Coy, Wanda, Ammie and Lois, were born and raised in West Virginia. The Salvation Army played an enormous role as a safe haven for them to develop. In retirement, she made checking on her younger sister Lois, a daily routine, as Lois battled cancer. Her sister Ammie was Wilma’s rock from the time she was born until her last moment, for which we will all be grateful.

Wilma worked at Union Carbide for 9 years before deciding to pursue a career in nursing. She worked at Thomas Memorial Hospital for 20-plus years where she made numerous lasting friendships, and she impacted the lives of those who passed through her care directly with her touch and indirectly through her continued commitment to precept the next generation of nurses.

Before and during retirement, she spent as much time with her grandsons, William and Charlie, as possible, picking them up from school (always first in line so they didn’t have to wait), taking them on errands, playing PIG in the driveway, tirelessly rebounding their shots, and watching their sports and activities. Her life was markedly brighter because of the time she shared with her grandsons. She loved to garden and could literally get a stick to bloom. She was the last survivor of her dedicated neighborhood bridge club.

Wilma loved her family and her pets endlessly. Please consider a donation to the Salvation Army, Kanawha Charleston Humane Society or HospiceCare in Wilma’s honor.

Wilma’s wish was for there to be no service.
