Obituary
Wilma June Jones, beloved daughter of the late Albert and Kathleen Buzzard Wall, passed away on March 5, 2025, after battling a long illness. She was born in Eskdale, WV, and was a 1953 graduate of East Bank High. Wilma was accomplished on the clarinet and shared the love of music with her family. Mom’s words of wisdom were simple, “Can’t” broke his arm before he ever tried and love thy neighbor as thyself.
A Christian by faith, she was a member of the West Minister Presbyterian Church in Kanawha City where she and her husband of 71 years, Robert H. “Red” Jones, were married in 1954. Later in life, they attended the Kanawha City Baptist Church, before settling at the Oakwood Baptist Church. Her faith was exemplified by her love and devotion to her family and to the Lord.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Frances and husband Robert “Bob” Bumgardner, her sister Norma Jean and husband James “Jim” Eplin, her grandson Robert Thomas “Bobby” Jones, her son-in-law George “Butch” Pauley, and her sister-in-law Thelma Walls.
In addition to her husband, Wilma is survived by her daughters, Karen L Pauley, of Charleston, WV, and Deborah A. “Dee” Stoffel, of High Point, NC; her son, Robert R. “Bob” and wife Jane C. Jones, of Charleston, WV; her sister, Phyllis and husband Doug Thornton, of St. Albans, WV; her brother, Albert “Al” Walls, Jr., of St. Albans; her brother-in-law, Thomas “Tom” Jones, of Charleston, WV; and her sister-in-law, Mary “Cis” and husband William “Bill” Bramer, of Palm Springs, CA.
Grandchildren to cherish her memories include, Michelle and husband John LaMaster, Sara and husband Levi Merritt, Meredith Pauley, Colby and her husband DJ Eckert, Morgan and her husband Adrian Cunningham, Matthew Jones, William Jones, Taylor Cummings, and Rita Pauley.
Great-grandchildren are Madison LaMaster, Kai Haley, Wynn Merritt, Capp Merritt, Grey Cunningham, Emmy Cunningham, Elizabeth Eckert and Thadeus Carpenter. Numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family rejoice in her victory.
“Mama Wilma” was the love of our life as she was a loving, caring, nurturing, mother, sister, grandmother, and wife. Her passing is a struggle but also there is joy knowing she is with our heavenly Father. She will be missed but her love will remain as a reminder of what once was. Our parents had a love story and since love never fails, the story will continue.
Much love and thanks go to Jo Ellen Lane who has cared for our mother the past seven years. Jo Ellen is an angel and the family wants her to know how much we appreciate the love and tenderness that she shared with our mother and the entire family. The workers at Hospice were wonderful and we appreciate the care they too have provided the last couple of years. Thanks to Angel’s Touch Personal Care Home in St Albans, WV, for providing the end-of-life care to our mother.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that you consider a gift to the Oakwood Baptist Church in Charleston, or the Rae of Hope Fellowship Home for women, or the WV Alzheimer’s Association. But a simple gift of kindness can also be used in remembrance of our mother.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, March 10, 2025, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, 1118 Virginia Street E., Charleston, WV, 25301, with Minister Donnie Pauley officiating. A private burial will take place on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the Cunningham Memorial Park. St Albans, WV.
