Obituary

Sherry Snodgrass, age 65, departed this life on Thursday, June 20, 2024, after an extended illness. At the time of her death, Sherry was a patient at the Genesis Marmet Center, where she had been receiving care for the past year.

Sherry (birth name: Cheryl Lynn Estep) was born on 16 February 1959 to Ronald Wallace Estep and Lena Hill Estep (both deceased) and resided in Marmet, WV, for her entire childhood.

Sherry was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Brian “Joey” Snodgrass; her brothers, Robert Mitchell Lacy, Royce Edward Lacy and Randy Blake Estep, and a sister, Mirian Cassandra “Sandy” (Estep) Caldwell.

Sherry is survived by her sister, Regina Kate (Estep) Thompson of Chesapeake, WV, and a brother, Johnnie S. “Steve” Estep of Huntersville, NC.  She also has numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, many of whom live in the Kanawha Valley area with others scattered coast to coast.

During a healthier time in their lives, Sherry and Joey often attended the Davis Creek Church of God. Sherry knew her Savior, Jesus Christ, she had embraced the everlasting gospel and she possessed an extensive knowledge of the scriptures, which she often quoted.  She was previously employed by the Kanawha County Board of Education and worked as a cook for nearly 20 years at the Chesapeake Elementary school where she was affectionately known as “Miss Sherry” by many of the students who attended there. She also ran a catering business for a few years when they lived in the Hurricane, WV, area. Sherry was an animal lover and throughout her life, she had many dogs and cats, and even a couple of horses.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in her memory to the Kanawha Valley Humane Society to help further the great work they do.

Final arrangements are pending.  Details of her memorial service will be published on the Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home’s website when they become finalized.
