  2. When I think back on Tim’s life, two incidents come to mind. The first occurred at a family reunion in Lake Tahoe. We were enjoying the pool and I was playing with Tim in the water when he fell asleep in my arms – in the pool. Now it’s possible that I am an unusually boring swimming partner. However, I prefer to believe that Tim felt completely comfortable in my arms, and the action of the waves and the warmth of the water combined to put him to sleep. He felt secure enough with me to fall asleep in an environment that many children find unsettling – and that made me feel terrific. The second time occurred one evening when I was staying over in Charleston on a trip from MA to TX. We were all in the kitchen talking while Paul and Raymona were preparing dinner. While she was cooking, Raymona was hlping Tim review his homework for the next day. I thought to myself how lucky Tim was to have parents like Paul and Raymona – parents who made sure he did his homework even though it would have been easy to use my visit as an excuse. That was an important lesson in itself.

Tim’s life was tragically short. Nevertheless, he touched many people, myself included.

    Love to Paul and Raymona.
