Obituary

Denise Hale Skiles, 61, passed away peacefully November 10, 2020, surrounded by her family.
Denise was born September 25, 1959, in Charleston, WV, to the late Thomas and Almond Hale. She was 1978 graduate of George Washington High School.

After high school, she began her career in retail, working for Sidney’s and Jean Nicole. In 1991, she married her best friend and love, Marvin Skiles. In 1992, she took on her most successful and treasured role as mother and homemaker.

First and foremost, Denise was a dedicated wife and mother. She treasured her children and grandson, embracing every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Tutu (grandmother) to Michael Wayne (Butterbean). She had a vivacious personality and always made people laugh with her upbeat spirit and positive attitude.

Denise is survived by her loving husband, Marvin; children, Shane and Alexus Skiles; and grandson, Michael Wayne Collins, all of Charleston. Also surviving are her sisters, Delcenia Spurlock of Charleston, Dortricia Ruff of Moline, IL, and Yolonda Cameron of Waldorf, MD. Also grieving her loss, a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all whom she loved and touched deeply. She will be sorely missed.

Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, November 19, with visitation beginning at 12:00 Noon, at Barlow Bonsall Funeral Home, Charleston with Pastor Aaron C. Trigg officiating. Burial will be held in Springhill Cemetery, Charleston, WV.
