Obituary

Michael Darrell Morris, 64, formerly of South Charleston, WV, died Sept. 22, 2022 at Agsten Manor, an assisted care facility in Charleston, WV, of which he had been a resident for the previous year. A graduate of South Charleson High School, he is survived by his younger brother, Mark Morris, Knoxville, TN and an older half sister, Deetie Richmond, Barberton, Ohio.

Morris was preceded in death by his parents, Walter Darrell Morris and Imogene Hamrick Morris, both of South Charleston. A spokeswoman for Agsten Manor recalled Morris as being “shy and keeping to himself” except when he played piano for his fellow residents. “He played piano like nobody’s business,” she said, “just like Jerry Lee Lewis.’ Morris was also an avid reader who spent much of his time at the Kanawha County Public Library. Funeral plans have not been announced.
